God's Promises vs our Thinking
WE ARE SAYING: "It's
impossible"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: All things are
possible - "But he said, The things that are impossible with men are possible with God." (Luke18:27)
WE ARE SAYING:"I'm too
tired"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I will give you rest
- "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest..."Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS..."For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)
WE ARE SAYING:"Nobody really
loves me"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I love you - A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (John 13:34)
WE ARE SAYING:"I can't go
on"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: My Grace is sufficient - And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is
perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast
about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. (II
Corinthians 12:9)
"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. (Psalm 91:15)
WE ARE SAYING: "I can't figure
things out"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I will direct your
steps - Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own
understanding... In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your
paths straight. (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
WE ARE SAYING: "I can't do
it"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: You can do all things - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Phillipians 4:13)
WE ARE SAYING: "I'm not
able"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I am able - And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having
all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good
deed; (II Corinthians
9:8)
WE ARE SAYING: "It's not worth
it"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: It will be worth it - And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans
8:28)
WE ARE SAYING: "I can't forgive
myself"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: Forgive yourself. I forgive you - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9)
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus... For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you
free from the law of sin and of death. (Romans 8:1-2)
WE ARE SAYING: "I can't forgive others"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: Forgive others. Then I forgive you - "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions (sins)... "But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions (sins)." (Mark 11:25-26). "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon (forgive), and you will be pardoned (forgiven)". (Luke 6:37)
WE ARE SAYING:"I can't
manage"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I will supply all your
needs - And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.(Phillipians 4:19)
WE ARE SAYING:"I'm always
worried and frustrated"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: Cast all
your cares on me - casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (I Peter 5:7)
WE ARE SAYING: "I don't have
enough faith"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I've given everyone
a measure of faith - For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to
think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as
to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)
WE ARE SAYING:"I'm not smart
enough"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I give you wisdom - But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, (I
Corinthians 1:30)
WE ARE SAYING: "I feel all
alone"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I will never leave you or
forsake you - "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR
WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"(Hebrews 13:5)
WE ARE SAYING: "I don't have a enough money, or I am loosing everything"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I will never leave you or
forsake you - Make sure
that your character is free from the love of money, being content with
what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR
WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," (Hebrews 13:5)
WE ARE SAYING:"I'm afraid"
GOD IS SAYING TO US: I have not given you a spirit of fear - For God has not given us a spirit of timidity (fear), but of power and love and discipline (sound mind). (II Timothy 1:7)
... so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" (Hebrews 13:6)
